Microevolution vs Macroevolution (NOT an evolution vs creation debate)
by pirata ini've heard the distinction between microevolution and macroevolution a lot, especially from intelligent design arguments.
microevolution being defined as changes or adaption within a species, and macroevolution being changes from one species to another.
my impression is that there really is no such meaningfule distinction between macro and micro in the modern scientific sense of evolutionary theory.

What is the official procedure for JWs in disaster relief situations?
by Franklin Massey inhere is my understanding of how jws handle disaster situations: they are directed to take care of only jws first.
once all the jws are accounted for and assisted, they will move on to preaching to others in the affected area but not providing any real material assistance to non-believers.. i hope i'm wrong about this.
i have been told by some people that my view is incorrect and that jws are also told to go out into affected communities to provide material assistance to non-believers by providing shelter, water, food, etc.

Questions about The Garden of Eden - Found nr. Rashaya, Lebanon
by paygan inmy name's paul and i'm carrying out important work to show and share with the world the location of real garden of eden and central site of the agricultural (neolithic) revolution.
i led the field walk there in november 2009 and saw the damage being inflicted and the urgent need for protection by getting world heritage site status, requiring public support and official investigation.. http://www.paygan.com/eden/images/500/kharsagpanorama.jpg - the garden of eden (kharsag) - panorama.
this location of the site was comprehensively mapped out by christian o'brien in his 1985 book, "the genius of the few" where he identified it through descriptions given in the earliest nippur tablets (the barton cylinder, etc), atrahasis and the book of enoch, along with other mentions in the bible, the book of jubilees, the koran etc.

YouTube: A History of God, Part I
by leavingwt in.
"i explain how i learned from a history of god by karen armstrong that the evidence indicates that the jewish concept of monotheism evolved from the syncretism of various polytheistic sources like canaanite and babylonian polytheism.".

A good speaker, teacher, etc.
by free2beme inanswer this and think about it .... if i was an amazing speaker, and taught in ways you never saw before and touched your heart deeply.
how would you explain to others if you had, no internet, no phone, no usps and the roads were nothing more then dirt paths between locations.
also, keep in mind that the people you tell it to are unable to read or write and have to share what you said from their own memories and only after days had passed or longer.

What would happen if a JW writes a book on evolution?
by Nobleheart ini don't know if that's ever happened: a jw writing a thesis, an article or even a book supporting the theory of evolution.
i know many jw don't have the needed qualifications for the above, but let's assume someone actually did that.
i know there are a few jw.

Being apart has kept our family together.
by Aussie Oz insounds like an oxymoron i know!.
having just watched the danish video on youtube, i realized that because our family is not hugely close and spread out all over australia, we never went thru the shunning shit much at all.. we were never a particularly close family to my memory, mum and dad had split over the religion when i was about ten, and the relationship with the step father was tough...hard to get a step father at 14, esp a tough discaplinarian.
i left home at about 16 and a half, older brother left later i recall.
